Saltwater angelfish can be found in shallow reefs around the tropical belt, and there are 86 wonderful species in this aquatic family. The largest, the grey angelfish, reached 24 inches, but most top out at 10 inches. Also, most are hardy and suitable for most aquariums though larger species will damage reef aquariums. All saltwater angelfish are beautiful and adaptable to prepared foods, and they are perfect for FOWLR aquariums. The very first marine angelfish sold for an aquarium in the United States was in 1917. A very good year for the fish hobby, not so much for the Western Front.
