The salvini cichlid is a gentle community species with subtle gold and red colors with a black checkerboard pattern. These fish are from Mexico and they tend to be territorial and chase away fish that come into their zone. Speaking of which, salvini should be provided with an area of plants, wood, or rocks that they can claim as their territory.
