Star Sapphire Cichlid

The sapphire cichlid is a hard to find cichlid but desired for the rare blue flake pattern of the males. Rare in the wild, this species in only offered through select breeders in the USA. The female sapphire will not get the deep blue color, but the presence of female will bring more color out in the male. The star sapphire cichlid is hardy but will stress in a crowded fish tank. The aquarium should be at least 50 gallons since the cichlid is an open water species in the wild.
